Attended SF State University in wild and wooly 67 - 73. Survived peace demonstrations, and other sundry marches, etc. Sam Hayakawa was president of the University in those days.
Took on a double major in music performance and music education with 20+units plus umpteen violin students. Met my future husband Roy (also a violinist) and we were married in 1973.
Taught in public schools and San Francisco State University for 4 years and then my husband and I formed our own studio. Also, I joined the musician's union and have been playing professionally ever since.
Son Tom was born in 1977. He played cello and sang in a boys choir at Cathedral School for Boys in SF. He later went to West Point and is now a Captain in the Army and going to law school at Ohio State under the JAG program. He spent 6 months in Iraq and earned a bronze star. Tom and Angela Zapior were married in 2001 and we have two lively grandchildren, Genevieve (3) and TJ (1).
Our private violin studio has grown into a 501 (c)3 non-profit music organization with an orchestra (the Villa Sinfonia) that includes many other teachers and their studios, has toured to Hawaii, Germany, Austria, England, Ireland, Italy, Prague and had a debut performance at Carnegie Hall. Our next tour is in 2008 to England and Scotland. We also sponsor a music camp on the beautiful southern shores of Lake Tahoe at the Zephyr Presbyterian Retreat Center
